Motorists traveling to Baguio City through Kennon Road are advised to expect heavy traffic until Friday, June 13, due to ongoing road repairs in Camp 2, Tuba, Benguet.
According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Cordillera, the traffic build-up is caused by maintenance work on the approaches of a temporary bridge in the area. Because of this, only light vehicles are allowed to pass through Kennon Road.
Drivers of public utility vans from Dagupan City headed to Baguio said they are still passing through Marcos Highway, but with extra caution.
Modernized jeepneys have been rerouted to Marcos Highway for nearly a week due to height restrictions at Camp 2.
“’Yung tulay kasi sa Camp 2 ina-aspalto doon kaya mahirap ang biyahe ngayon doon,” Emil Maramba, a van driver, said.
Although the alternate route adds travel time, many passengers say safety comes first.
“Sa Marcos Highway na ang daan namin. Ang importante, makauwi,” Melchor Rosete, a commuter, said.
