Authorities are working to identify a man in Bacolod City who was captured on closed circuit television (CCTV) camera with a stolen van.

The CCTV footage showed the van parking in front of a motor shop in Barangay 24 at past 11 a.m. on June 11, 2025.

It then showed the man who drove the van open its hood, took out some parts, and left.

It turned out, the man in the video is not the vehicle’s owner and may have been the one who stole the van.

The van is owned by 63-year-old Mario Nacario.

Nacario parked the van in front of his workplace in Barangay Taculing at 8 a.m. that day. Later, it went missing.

The van is being used as a service vehicle for his workers.

“Ginagamit ko iyan pang-service sa mga tao ko. Mga alas-diyes, wala na. Hinanap ko hanggang ini-report ko, ipina-blotter ko,” Nacario said.

Nacario said it appeared that the suspect used a key for a motorcycle to start the van, something that also baffled him. The key for the motorcycle was left in the van at that time.

“Ang susi ng motor ko ang ginamit niya. Iyon ang ginamit niya sa pagpapaandar. Nagtataka nga ako,” he said.

It was found that the suspect had taken away the battery of the van, as well as papers for the vehicle.
