Flooding caused by heavy rains has displaced families in Davao Occidental and Davao del Sur.
In Davao Occidental, 98 families in Sta. Maria had to move to seven evacuation centers as of 3:12 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025.
These evacuation centers include the Fish Processing evacuation center (6 families); Yellow gym (17 families); RHU evacuation center (6 families); Sto. Rosario gym (10 families); San Agustin gym (53 families); Lower Poblacion barangay hall (5 families); and Basiawan gym (1 family).
Personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and the Operation Center were mobilized to conduct rescue, relief, and evacuation operations during the flood.
The local government provided assistance to the families affected, including food packs, hygiene kits, hot meals, and medical support.
The families affected returned home when floodwaters subsided.
Meanwhile, at least 51 families were also evacuated after four barangays in Malalag, Davao del Sur were flooded.
Out of 51 families, 44 were evacuated to the municipal gymnasium while seven others were evacuated to the Caputian barangay hall.
State weather bureau PAGASA said the bad weather in Davao region was caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
