An 80-year-old woman died after she was hit by a motorcycle driven by a 14-year-old boy while crossing the street in Davao City.

The impact threw the woman to the side of the road. She sustained an injury in the head and a fracture in the leg.

She was rushed to the hospital but died later.

Based on investigation, the woman crossed the street reportedly to get some air at a shanty across when the motorcycle hit her.

Her daughter said her mother’s tragic death is painful to accept.

Dili lalim, sakit gyud,” Ederlina Licera said.

Police said the motorcycle is owned by the boy’s uncle and the boy allegedly took the vehicle out for a ride without permission.

The boy’s parents were at work at that time.

Hazel Caballero Tuazon, said.

The parents chose not give a statement.

“Nagpaabot pa og kanang final nga desisyon ang family sa 80 years old, kung mo-file ba sila og kaso against sa parents sa driver, kining menor de edad for civil liability,” Tuazon said.

The boy is set to be turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office for intervention.
