As students return to school on Monday, June 16, at least 1,454 police officers will be deployed across Pangasinan to ensure safety and order, with tighter watch in schools and busy roads.

They will man Police Assistance Desks and help manage traffic, as well as ensure safety and peace and order, until June 27.

In Dagupan City alone, 85 percent of the local police force will be deployed.

This means over 100 officers will be assigned to school zones and key roads in the city. Two police officers will be stationed at each school, supported by POSO enforcers and barangay officials.

“Especially sa pagpasok ng mga bata before 7 a.m., lunch time, at dismissal nila, 4 p.m.,” PCpt. Shayne Daciego, spokesperson of the Dagupan City Police Station, said.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will focus on five major schools in the city:

  • North Central Elementary School
  • Federico N. Ceralde Integrated School
  • Dagupan City National High School
  • West Central Elementary School 1
  • Bolosan Elementary School

Authorities are reminding parents to keep an eye on the children closely during the school week.

“Isa rin tayo na may responsibilidad sa crime prevention. Tulungan po natin ang ating kapulisan,” Daciego added.

Meanwhile, the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) is warning tricycle drivers not to overcharge students or parents during the school rush.

“Kung anong tamang pamasahe, ‘yun lang dapat singilin. Kasi kayo rin ang kawawa sa penalty,” Rexon De Vera, POSO deputy chief, said.
