Authorities recovered at least three packs of suspected shabu along the coastlines of Ilocos Norte over two days, with each pack wrapped in plastic marked with "durian" labels and Chinese characters.

In Paoay, a fisherman found a one-kilo pack washed ashore in Barangay Callaguip. He turned it over to barangay officials immediately, who contacted the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Upon testing, the contents were confirmed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, with an estimated value of P6.8 million.

Just hours later in Laoag City, another fisherman discovered a similar package by the riverbanks of Barangay 33-A while retrieving his fishing nets.

Just the night before, a tourist walking along the shore in Barangay Pangil, Currimao also found a package floating in shallow water.

Like the others, it was labeled as durian and marked with Chinese characters.

All three packs were confirmed by PDEA to contain shabu and are now in the agency's custody for further investigation.

As of this writing, authorities are working to determine if the drug parcels are part of a larger smuggling operation and are calling on the public to report any similar discoveries.
