At least 95 houses were partially damaged after strong gusts of wind hit nine barangays in Lambunao town, Province of Iloilo.
The incident happened afternoon on June 15, 2025.
The strong gusts of wind, believed to be a squall, was accompanied by heavy rainfall.
As of this writing, assessment done by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lambunao on the damage left behind by the squall is ongoing and the number of families affected.
Based on data furnished by the Lambunao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), 53 houses were affected in Barangay Caninguan; 30 in Barangay San Gregorio, five in Barangay Gines, two in Barangay Maribong, one each in Barangays Bayuco, Pasig, Hipgos, Cabugao, and Alugmawa.
No one was reported hurt in the incident.
The LGU is set to distribute financial assistance and other food and non-food items to the affected residents.
According to state weather bureau PAGASA, strong gusts of winds occur during thunderstorms.
“Malakas na hangin na nagde-develop once na ang cold air natin at ang warm air natin, nag-meet na siya. So possible maka-create siya ng rotational (na hangin),” Rolly Cuenca, weather observer at PAGASA Iloilo, said.
