The spotlight is on Eastern Visayas as the 3rd Central Philippines Tourism Exposition (CPTEX) opens in Tacloban City on June 20 - 22, 2025 bringing together a cluster of diverse tourism sites, destinations, and packages at the heart of the country, according to Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Leyte.
The three-day expo is expected to draw over 200 participants, comprising tourism offices, tour operators, and industry stakeholders across Central Philippines regions that includes Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Island, and Eastern Visayas.
"Regional Director Karina Rosa Tiopes of the Department of Tourism in Eastern Visayas (DOT 8) said this year’s tourism expo will place centerstage tour destinations that have yet to gain traction in promotions," PIA Leyte said.
“We have a lot of destinations nationwide that have high potentials but still lack the opportunities to be highlighted. This is one event that we can bring these equally exciting destinations,” Tiopes said, according to the report.
The report further said that Eastern Visayas is set to showcase the region’s rich heritage and natural attractions - from Biliran’s mountain trails to Eastern Samar’s pristine seascapes to pilgrimage tourism in the South - under this year’s theme, “Celebrating Diversity and Shared Culture.”
"The region has branded itself with the theme “Infinite Escapes” - a dynamic tourism initiative that highlights the region’s diverse attractions under various “Infinite” categories," it added.
CPTEX will feature exhibits, business‑to‑business (B2B) meetings, cultural performances, workshops, and familiarization tours, among other tourism offerings.
"Now on its third staging, CPTEX has become a platform for collaboration by bringing together government agencies, local government units, tour operators, and hospitality providers. It helps boost domestic tourism strengthens regional cooperation, and promotes lesser‑known destinations," the PIA Leyte report also cited.
