Nearly 100,000 students across Region 1 remain unregistered for the school year 2025- 2026, as of June 17.

Based on data from the Department of Education – Region 1, only 1,008,098 out of the 1.1 million expected enrollees have completed their registration in both public and private schools.

“Ini-expect natin na considering na tuloy-tuloy pa ang enrollment at tataas pa, malaki pa ang itataas ng report natin as of this time,” Cesar Bucsit, Information Officer of DepEd Region 1, said.

In Pangasinan, schools like Mangaldan National High School continue to accept late enrollees. Over 200 students are still expected to enroll there in the coming days.

“Hindi pa natin nami-meet ang target natin. Medyo marami pa ang hindi nakakapag-enroll,” Eduardo Castillo, principal of Mangaldan National High School, said.

For some parents, the delay was due to uncertainty on the part of their children.

“Tinanong ko muna siya maige kung ano ba ang gusto niya, kasi siyempre bata pa ang anak ko, paiba-iba pa ang isip,” Thelma Navarro said.

She only enrolled her child after confirming their interest in returning to senior high school.

DepEd allows late enrollment until the end of July. However, students must attend at least 80 percent of school days, or 158 days, to complete the academic year, based on DepEd guidelines.
