An oiler of a motorized tugboat drowned after he fell into the sea off Kudos Port, KM 12, Davao City.
Personnel of the Coast Guard Sub-Station KM 11 responded immediately and requested for additional assistance from the Special Operations Unit of the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao.
However, rescue efforts were halted temporarily due to rough seas. After a few hours, search and rescue operations resumed.
Authorities said the victim was reportedly swept away and was not found immediately.
On June 17, 2025, a sailor reportedly saw a floating object, which was later confirmed to be the victim’s body.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
