The Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative (PROSIELCO), an electric distribution utility, disclosed that power supply has resumed in the island-province last Saturday, June 14, 2025.
However, power outage was experienced in certain areas on Monday, June 16, 2025, after two generator units of power supplier, Siquior Island Power Corporation (SIPCOR), bogged down reportedly.
Power supply resumes normalcy in the Province of Siquijor upon the arrival of 2megawatts generator set from Palawan that serves as back-up in the event of trip-offs at SIPCOR plants, according to Glenn Galvan, PROSIELCO general manager.
However, power interruptions were still experienced in a few areas in the province morning on June 16, 2025. At past 8 a.m. to noontime, the said generator units were already operational.
“Ginamit yun (gen set) nung Saturday evening, inano lang yung parang pang back-up kung magkulang si SIPCOR; 2.7MW kasi yung kulang,” Galvan said.
The two generator units of SIPCOR that conked out are in Barangay Tignao (Tig-na-wô), Lazi town and in Barangay Candanay, Siquijor town.
“Sa lahat ng mga consumers ng Siquijor, sana po maunawaan natin nasa off-grid tayo, yung supply natin ay sa planta lang talaga nanggaling, so pag may masira hindi talaga maiwasan na meron tayong mga outages,” Galvan pointed out.
