A man donning the uniform of a Lapu-Lapu City Hall employee exchanged punches with a motorist. The incident was caught on video.
Mayor Junard Chan instructed Atty. Danilo Almendras, city administrator, to verify the man involved in a road rage video that circulated on social media.
In an interview with GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, Almendras confirmed that the person involved is indeed a worker of the city government but he did not disclose on the specific office.
Almendras said that the motorist appeared in his office morning on June 18, 2025. He said he urged the motorist to file a formal complaint.
Almendras added that he is also waiting for the written explanation from the employee involved.
The news team tried reaching out for a comment from the motorist, but he has not replied to the messages yet. However, in the motorist’s social media post, he narrated that while he was on his way to ferry his wife to the export processing zone in Barangay Basak, he felt a thud coming from the rear of the motorcycle as if someone was pushing them.
When he checked, he found out that another motorist rammed into the rear part of the motorcycle, the plate number cracked upon impact, and unhinged the signal light of the motor.
However, instead of pulling over, the City Hall worker attempted to flee, which led to a chase.
The motorist said that he caught up with him in the vicinity of Basak Barangay Hall where he drove side by side with him and told him of the damage done to his motorcycle. But the City Hall employee did not listen allegedly to him. So he blocked him from moving any further that angered the city worker. The situation led to a fistfight.
The fight stopped when the wives intervened.
As of this writing, the news team is yet to seek a comment from the City Hall employee.
