The Local Government Unit of Cebu City has gauged the capabilities of community responders in the event of emergencies via an earthquake drill.

The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO), led by Aderson Comar, simulated response to the aftermath of an earthquake morning on June 19, 2025.

The drill was participated by employees of the Cebu City Hall.

The drill underscored the protocol in the event of an earthquake: that is to duck, cover, and hold prior to vacating an area and finding a safer place.

The skills sets of disaster responders were put to a test especially on proper evacuation procedures for high-rise buildings.

Police units, the military, and personnel from other government agencies participated in the drill.

It is also an objective of the CCDRRMO to empower barangays and harness their emergency response capabilities since they are the first to respond to alarms.

Drills as such strengthen the system of response and preparedness of rescuers in the event of disasters or calamities.
