Several contraband items were seized during a surprise Oplan Greyhound operation at the Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory.

The surprise operation was conducted by jail personnel and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Northern Mindanao (PDEA-10).

PDEA-10 agents, together with their drug-sniffing dogs, conducted a thorough inspection of the cells and belongings of more than 3,200 persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

“Kato gituyo gyud to siya kay atoang jail warden nakipag-coordinate siya sa PDEA iya pud gi-open up ug gi-request didtoa nga kung pwede maka-joint greyhound sa BJMP,” CDO City Jail-Male Dormitory Spokesperson, Insp. Brit Aguilon, said.

The operation, which lasted from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., yielded several contraband items, including three smartphones, a keypad mobile phone, and various tools and weapons considered jail contraband.

Although no illegal drugs were recovered, some plastic containers were found that, initially, raised suspicion. However, these were later confirmed to contain only tawas (alum) and salt.

“Katung mga lighter ana mao raman ang atong nakuha even sa mga PDEA mismo nga operative sa leadership sa PDEA nga wala tay drugs nga nakuha,” Aguilon added.

PDLs found in possession of contraband will undergo further assessment and will face disciplinary action based on BJMP policy.

“Ang security challenges man gud evolving so kita pud constantly nagapaningkamot gyud pud ta nga maka-adapt ug maging pro-active pud ta ana,” Aguilon said.
