The soil beneath a portion of the national road in Sitio Pamongot, Barangay Talaguton, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental has caved in.

In an advisory released on Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Don Marcelino said while the concrete road remains intact, the soil underneath and the roadside concrete barrier have slowly eroded.

As a precautionary measure, authorities have implemented a one-way traffic scheme in the affected area.

The local government has coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other concerned agencies for technical assessment and immediate repair.

The MDRRMO also issued a safety reminder, urging motorists and the public to exercise caution and follow all precautionary measures to avoid accidents.

These precautionary measures include:

  • Avoid driving near the weakened edge of the affected portion of the road
  • Follow all warning signs and physical barriers installed in the area
  • Refrain from speeding, particularly at night or during rainy conditions
  • If travel is not essential, residents are advised to avoid passing through the area until safety inspections are completed
  • Stay alert during prolonged rain, which may worsen the road’s condition

MDRRMO urged the public to cooperate and report immediately if further road damage is observed.
