A 27-year-old robbery suspect was shot and arrested after he opened fire at responding police officers in Barangay Sapang, Cabanatuan City.
According to the Philippine National Police, the 40-year-old victim was able to call for help immediately after the holdup.
Police responded quickly and tracked the suspect in a thickly wooded area of the barangay.
Instead of surrendering, the suspect shot at the officers reportedly, prompting the cops to fire back. The suspect was hit in the stomach and was arrested later.
Authorities recovered a homemade .38 caliber revolver, three cellphones, a wallet with cash, and several IDs taken reportedly from the victim.
The suspect is now confined in a hospital and has yet to give a statement.
