Long lines formed at gasoline stations in Mangaldan, Pangasinan early morning on Monday, June 24, 2025, as motorists hurried to fuel up before the scheduled oil price hike the following day.

“Last night lumabas ‘yung news kaya talagang need na magpakarga sa mga sasakyan,” Cyrus de Guzman, a motorist, said.

“Tataas na naman ang presyo, kailangan full tank na ang sasakyan,” Joey Daing, another motorist, added.

The Department of Energy (DOE) projected the following increases:

  • Diesel: P4.30 to P4.80 per liter
  • Kerosene: P4.25 to P4.40 per liter
  • Gasoline: P2.50 to P3.00 per liter

As of June 23, 2025, diesel prices were at P50 per liter, while gasoline ranged from P54 to P55 per liter.

The DOE said the price hike is still due to global tensions, especially the conflict between Israel and Iran.

At the same time, DOE is receiving complaints about some stations allegedly hoarding fuel.

DOE reminds the public to report any suspicious fuel hoarding as inspections are ongoing.

“Nakakatanggap kami ng ganoong complaint na magpapakarga sila kaso sinasabi ng mga gasoline station na wala silang laman. ‘Yun nga, sakaling may mga ganung pagdududa o kung talagang nakita ninyo na may hoarding na nangyayari — kasi bawal ang hoarding — dapat ipagbigay-alam sa DOE. In fact, regular din ang inspection na ginagawa namin,” Rodela Romero, Assistant Director of DOE’s Oil Industry Management Bureau, said.

Motorists are expected to continue rushing to stations until late evening on Monday.
