The Province of Capiz has confirmed its first Mpox case, according to the Capiz Provincial Health Office (PHO).
In an official statement released by Capiz PHO, one of seven suspected Mpox cases turned out to be positive.
Earlier, specimens were collected from the seven suspected cases for laboratory test at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Two results confirmed that one case is positive, while the other is negative.
The Municipal Health Office of Pontevedra disclosed in a statement that a resident of the municipality is the first confirmed Mpox case in the province.
The patient is reported to have recovered, and that the persons in close contact are already under observation.
Capiz PHO said it has intensified its monitoring and surveillance operation, and that the public should stay calm.
