Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao (NBI-11) arrested four employees of an establishment allegedly involved in the illegal sale of raw lots.

The operation was carried out in Buhangin District, Davao City.

NBI-11 said the establishment has been the subject of complaints from three individuals who claimed to have purchased raw lots four years ago.

However, no development has since taken place on the land they paid for.

“Upon careful evaluation and examination of the documents they presented, it appeared that there is probable cause that exists and that warrants a certainty of conviction against the subject,” NBI-11 Spokesperson, Ely Leano, said.

Based on investigation, the establishment had not renewed its business permit since 2022.

Authorities described the establishment’s modus as selling undeveloped lots at cheaper prices, offering 250-square-meter lots for as low as P150,000. The installment payment scheme reportedly made the offer more enticing to buyers.

Around 100 individuals have reportedly been lured into purchasing properties from the firm.

“Itong operation na ito this would have been continued ng our NBI regional Director Arcelito Albao and of course our national director, in the person of Ret. Gen. Jaime Santiago to really to go after these scammers,” Leano added.

The arrested employees, field agents and the owner will face charges for estafa and violation of Presidential Decree 957.

The arrested workers did not issue a statement.
