One was killed while six others were wounded after a pickup crashed into a tricycle that hit other vehicles on impact.

The incident happened in Barangay 5, Silay City, Province of Negros Occidental afternoon on June 23, 2025.

According to the Silay City Police, the pickup was traveling in the same direction as the tricycle when the former hit the latter.

“Nag-give way ang motor, nagpreno sya. Ngunit ang ating victim hindi siya kaagad nakapreno that's why fatal ang pagkabangga,” according to Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, chief of Silay City Police Station.

The person on board the tricycle identified as Nelia Dorilag, 59 years old, was pronounced dead on the spot, while the driver identified as Alexis Javier, 34 years old, was injured along with two other passengers, ages four years old and five years old.

Upon impact, the tricycle hit other vehicles. Among those injured are the driver of another tricycle identified as Belengie Lubiano, 54 years old, his passenger identified as Divina Cocuba, and an electronic bike driver named Uldarico Pinuela.

According to the police, the 57-year-old pickup driver identified as Mary Ann Comoda must have not seen the tricycle applying brakes.

“Mabilis talaga siya ayon sa witness natin. Kung mabagal lang yun, kaya niyang i-preno,” Darroca said.

Members of the victim’s family did not issue a statement anymore after having a discussion with the offending party.

Meanwhile, a 57-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after she was hit by a passenger van in Murcia town, Negros Occidental.

Josemae Gegento was crossing the road in Barangay Pandanon Silos, Murcia when she was hit by a van morning on June 23, 2025.

The van was driven by one Jerome Garing.

The van had 17 passengers from San Carlos City bound for Bacolod City.

“Pagtawid niya ayon sa driver at mga sakay ng van, tumigil siya sa gitna. Sinikap pa siyang iwasan ng driver. Doon inabot siya,” Major Sherwin Fernandez, chief of Murcia Police Station, said.

The family of the victim did not reportedly pursue a case against the van driver.
