An employee of the Lapu-Lapu City Hall who figured in a road rage incident is ordered dismissed from the service.

The incident happened on June 18, 2025 in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

In a phone interview of GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak with motorcycle rider Edcel Lumungsod, the offended party, he said he is waiting to be summoned along with the 55-year-old employee of the city motor pool.

Lumungsod said that whatever the outcome is during their discussion in front of Mayor Junard Chan, he will also decide on the filing of a criminal case against the government employee that hit and damaged his motorcycle, and who assaulted him physically.

However, on June 24, 2025, Chan said he already ordered the dismissal of the casual employee after the Grievance Committee decided to have the employee removed permanently from his post.

Lumungsod said he is glad of the mayor’s decision and anticipates the employee’s dismissal from the service, stating that the removal of an undesirable employee from the government service will be more beneficial for the public good.

Further, it was learned that the casual employee was a former barangay tanod (village watchman) in Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City, and was working as a dump truck driver at the motor pool for over a year already prior to the incident.
