A huge fire broke out in Talisay City, Cebu afternoon on June 25, 2025 that displaced approximately 200 families.
The fire struck Sitio Mananga 2, near the Mananga Bridge, in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.
Based on initial investigation of the Talisay City Fire Station, over 100 houses were razed.
The Talisay City Fire Station received the alarm at 2:11 p.m.
The fire spread quickly as most of the houses in the area were made of light materials.
By 2:50 p.m., the fire was raised to Task Force Alpha (which means “significant escalation in the severity of the fire that requires substantial mobilization of firefighting resources”).
Responders have to deal once more the perennial challenges in firefighting at densely populated areas, such as narrow alleyways and the need to connect fire hoses to penetrate the interior portion of the affected area.
City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA) closed the south-bound side of Mananga Bridge where responding fire trucks were positioned, while the north-bound side of the bridge was designated for two-way traffic.
The fire was declared under control after over an hour of firefighting efforts.
As of this writing, the Talisay City Fire Station is yet to disclose the cause of the fire and the estimated cost of damages.
