Police recovered a cache of firearms and explosives hidden in a remote area of Sitio Bigoc, Barangay Alucao, Sta. Teresita, Cagayan after a former rebel provided information.

Personnel from the 2nd Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company (2CPMFC), led by PLT Rex R. Ubias, along with the Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit and Sta. Teresita Police Station, launched the search based on the tip of a rebel returnee with the alias “Rany/Kulot/Bag-O.”

Authorities believe the site was used by armed groups to store weapons and as a route between towns.

The items recovered include:

  • 1 homemade firearm
  • 2.4 meters of detonating cord
  • 120 meters of firing wire
  • 7 shotgun shells
  • 2 40mm HEDP rounds
  • 1 40mm AVA round
  • 1 M2K HE fragmentation grenade
  • 2 M76 rifle grenade rounds with trap
  • 5 M76B rifle grenade rounds with trap
  • 1 M76A1 rifle grenade round with trap
  • 1 M76C rifle grenade round with trap

Police brought the items for proper verification, documentation, and disposal.
