A 30-year-old fisherman accused of raping his 12-year-old neighbor was arrested in Maigo, Lanao del Norte.

According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), the suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for two counts of statutory rape and two counts of sexual assault.

Police said that based on reports, the girl had attended a wake when the suspect allegedly dragged her and brought her to a banana plantation nearby.

The incident happened in December 2024 but was reported only in March 2025 after the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the victim.

The suspect is now under the custody of Maigo Municipal Police Station.

“This arrest underscores the unwavering commitment of PRO10 and other law enforcement units to pursue justice, especially for victims of heinous crimes such as rape and sexual assault. Walang ligtas sa batas—lalo na ang mga taong nananamantala ng kabataan at kababaihan,” PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Rolindo Suguilon, said.
