Two suspects in the shooting to death of a barangay secretary in Dumanjug town, south Cebu Province were arrested.
The suspects were arrested on June 27, 2025 for allegedly shooting to death Celsa Regidor Redondo, Barangay Tubod Dugoan secretary.
Redondo was found dead inside her room, face down to the floor. She sustained gunshot wounds on the head and on the belly.
Witnesses pointed at the suspects as the culprits.
The two were nabbed by the authorities in a follow-up operation.
Police said that while they are investigating thoroughly the motive to the crime, there is a strong possibility that the woman is a victim of mistaken identity.
“Nag-conduct mi hot pursuit operation, nakuha gyud namo ang duha ka suspetsado, ang gunman ug ang kuyog niya,” according to Police Captain Eden Rex Baguio, chief of the Dumanjug Philippine National Police.
