A man in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, allegedly stabbed his brother to death for waking him up.

The incident happened inside their home in Barangay Bari.

The suspect, Rafael Caoile, allegedly got irked when his older brother, 44-year-old Monny Caoile, entered his room to inform him that his child had been rushed to the hospital due to breathing problems.

Family members said Rafael had been drinking with another sibling earlier that day.

“Pinasok na niya sa loob ng kwarto, doon na niya sinaksak ng sinaksak,” Flora Caoile, their mother, said.

Monny was stabbed five times, in the armpit, back, and stomach.

Despite his injuries, he managed to leave the room and ask for help but Rafael followed him and allegedly assaulted him again, slamming his head against the wall.

The victim died shortly after.

Police said the suspect has been charged with homicide and has undergone inquest proceedings.

“Actually, sinampahan na siya ng kaso, na-inquest na for homicide case,” PCapt. Vicente Abrazaldo of Mangaldan Police Station said.

Rafael has apologized and claimed the killing was not intentional but the family believes he was under the influence of both alcohol and illegal drugs at that time. The family is bent on pursuing the case against him.
