Local elective leaders in Western Visayas assumed office on Monday, June 30, 2025.

The first lady-mayor of Iloilo City, Raisa Treñas-Chu, assured of her administration’s open-door policy upon assumption of office. She led the flag-raising ceremony of the Iloilo City Government on Monday, June 30, 2025.

“Kung ano man ang inyong kailangan, just like the previous administration, the city mayor’s office will have an open-door policy for everyone,” Treñas-Chu said.

At about noontime, Vice Mayor Lady Julie Grace Baronda arrived at her office at the new Legislative Building. Baronda assured that belonging to the minority would not affect her job.

“Naniniwala ako na ang City Council is an independent body. It means na kung para sa kabutihan ng lungsod, para sa kabutihan ng mga residente, kakausapin ko talaga sila,” Baronda said.

Meanwhile, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. took her oath of office for his third, or final, term in office at a hotel in Iloilo City proper.

In Bacolod City, after his oathtaking over the weekend, Mayor Greg Gasataya has assumed his official duties. On his first day in office, he underwent a drug test and proved to be negative.

“We begin this journey with a renewed purpose, a firm resolve, and a heart of hope. In the next 100 days we may not accomplish everything, but we prove that we are serious about change,” Gasataya said.

Further, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will serve on his last term.

In the Province of Aklan, Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores took his oath of office for his new term last June 27, 2025.  

As for Capiz Governor Fredenil Castro, he attended the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on the first day of his second term.

In the Province of Antique, Governor Paolo Javier assumed office, while Guimaras Governor Lucille Nava was sworn into office on Monday, June 30, 2025.
