A 35-year-old man died while a 49-year-old man was injured after they were hacked by their drinking companion in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
The 23-year-old suspect fled after the incident.
Based on investigation, the victims and the suspect figured in a heated argument, which resulted in the suspect hacking the victims.
Authorities are still investigating what caused the argument.
“Pag-inom nila didto na nagsugod nga nagkalalis kani atoang mga biktima ug atoang suspek…nga miresulta ingon ani nga pagpanigbas nga natigbasan niya ang iyang isa ka kauban nga parente ra gihapon niya,” Malaybalay City Police Station Spokesperson, Chief Master Sergeant Ken Hanzel Bughaw, said.
A hot pursuit operation was launched immediately. The suspect eventually turned himself in to a barangay tanod (village watchman) in the area.
The suspect was taken into police custody and reportedly owned up to the crime.
The suspect may face homicide and frustrated homicide charges.
Meanwhile, the injured victim is still recuperating at the hospital, as of this writing.
