The Local Government Unit of Lapu-Lapu City turned over P5.2 billion in its coffers to the new administration in a turnover ceremony on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Outgoing Mayor Junard Chan turned over the responsibility of governance to the new mayor, Cindi King-Chan.

The couple attended the flag-raising ceremony morning on June 30, 2025.

Former Lapu-Lapu City Lone District representative Cindi King-Chan assumed the post of her mayor-husband, while Mayor Chan assumed the duties of the former congresswoman.

King-Chan said her administration is not keen on a revamp as regard to department heads and staff members.

She vowed to sustain the programs and projects started by her husband. She acknowledged though that she does not have broad knowledge yet being a local chief executive (LCE) as it is her first term to serve as mayor.

Chan, likewise, vowed to have projects started by King-Chan completed such as flood-control projects.

Chan has taken pride in the P5.6 billion funds available in the city coffers that he turned over to the new administration. He cited that the city government does not have to loan for the construction of a new City Hall building.

However, King-Chan said she would review plans on the construction of a new City Hall building, as she wants to ensure that the location is appropriate, and does not require the demolition, or destruction of the old City Hall.

Beforehand, city engineers submitted a plan on the construction of the building where the sports complex is situated, which did not sit well with her. She said she would rather have the new building constructed in front of the old City Hall building.
