A payloader that lost reportedly its brakes slammed out of control on the roof of a house in Barangay Busay, Cebu City early morning on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

The incident happened in Sitio Roosevelt in Barangay Busay, across a structure deemed a tourist spot in upland Cebu City.

The Magno family, the owner of the affected house, woke up to earthquake-like shaking and the shattering of glass windows.

When the members of the Magno family went out to check, the sight of a payloader snagged on a portion of their roof scared them.

The impact caused visible cracks to their two-storey concrete house, said Dr. Joy Magno, houseowner.

Magno said that the payloader hit the room of her 12-year-old child.

She added that her child is unscathed, though, despite concrete debris flying off upon impact.

She expressed worry over the structural integrity of their house after it was shaken vigorously by the incident.

As of 7 a.m., the payloader was removed from Magno’s property, tugged by two backhoes.

However, a vendor identified as Annabelle Villaluz complained that the incident has also destroyed her store.

It was learned that the payloader was carrying out improvement works to a tourist spot in the area. While the driver was maneuvering downhill, the brakes reportedly malfunctioned.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed onto the roof of the house. But the driver of the payloader did not comment on the incident.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) has investigated the incident.

GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak tried to get a comment from the management of the edifice where the tourist spot is situated, however the news team is yet waiting for a reply.
