A mixer and amplifier used for Sunday Masses were stolen from a church under construction in Barangay Bantayan in Mangaldan, Pangasinan.
The theft happened at the Beato Juan Martinez de Sto. Domingo Pastoral Station, where the missing equipment was last used during a Mass the previous Sunday, June 29, 2025.
The items were discovered missing in the morning of July 1, 2025.
Because the church is still under construction, it has no doors or windows — making it easy for the suspect to break in.
“It's sad kasi five years na kami dito and ngayon lang ito nangyari. We feel like we are secure pero may nakapasok,” Rev. Fr. Pierre Marie Tiberghien, the church’s pastoral director, said.
Although the stolen mixer and amplifier were old, Pierre said they were vital for regular Masses.
“I’m sad for them. It’s kasalanan, it’s a mistake. Pero sana maibalik nila,” he said.
He hopes the thief would return the items in time before the next Sunday mass.
As of July 2, 2025, the incident has not yet been formally reported to the Mangaldan Police Station. However, local authorities have already started coordinating with the church and launched an investigation.
“Mag-CCTV backtracking tayo. Iimbestigahan talaga natin ito,” PLTCOL. Perlito Tuayon, Chief of Mangaldan Police Station, said.
