An uncle stabbed his nephews in Asturias town, Cebu Province reportedly due to jealous fit.

As of this writing, one of three nephews was declared dead, while two are reported to be in critical condition.

Alias “Kyle,” 18 years old, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital for the fatal wounds he sustained on the head, face, neck, and other parts of his body, while his younger siblings, ages eight years old and 10 years old, are reported to be in critical condition.

Asturias Police said that the suspect is the husband of their mother’s sister.

The victims were attacked while they were in their residence, fast asleep, in Barangay Owak on July 2, 2025 past 4 a.m.

The suspect was identified as George Batomalaque, 46 years old, from Barangay Vito in the adjacent Municipality of Balamban.

During police investigation, it turned out that Batomalaque suspected of intimate relationship between his wife and the 18-year-old victim.

It was also learned that there was already tension between him and the victim’s father.

The father of the victim was not around when the incident happened. He was said to be attending to the mother of the victims who was confined in a hospital in Cebu City.

“Ang kanang suspect ug kanang amahan naa na silay personal grudge daan, posible nga kung ang amahan naa pa didto way siguro maoy tigbason, nya wa man didto. Additional sad niyang rason, ang kana kuno namatay, kanang biktima, kanang uyab kuno, naa kunoy relasyon ug iyang asawa. Istorya ra niya. Selos naman sya, mao to gitigbas, wala sa iyang kaugalingon, wala ka-control,” according to Police Senior Master Sergeant Bendie Nuñez, Asturias Police Station investigator.

After perpetrating the crime, the suspect went home to Vito, Balamban and surrendered to a barangay councilman who turned him over to the custody of the Asturias Police.

The machete used by the victim, about 12 inches long, was recovered.

Charges for murder and frustrated murder are set to be filed against the suspect on July 4, 2025.
