Several documents belonging to the Human Resource Department of the Misamis Oriental provincial government were dug up from a vacant lot inside the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ) in Initao town.

The documents were unearthed and retrieved using a backhoe by personnel of the new administration led by Provincial Legal Officer, Atty. Angel Lim, Jr.

Among the documents recovered were Personal Data Sheet (PDS) of employees, salary adjustment records, and official receipts.

Lim said an official of the provincial government tipped him off about the location of the files.

He said investigation is underway to determine why the documents were disposed of and buried there.

“Ato pa ni palawman ang pakisayod niini nganong gipanglabay kini nga akong tan-aw kini mga official documents naa man gud mga nalambigit possible nga Article 226 o ang infidelity of custody of documents,” Lim said.

In a press briefing, the camp of former Governor Peter Unabia confirmed the disposal of the documents.

They clarified that the documents came from the Human Resource Department and were disposed of because these were already old and no longer had value.

“Dugay naman ni nga dokumento nga gusto e-dispose sa HR, even panahon pa ni Gov. Bambi, kay these are more than 10 years or 30 years nga dokumento and these are the files of retired, resigned, separated from the government service considering nga wala lang gyud mi mabutangan,” former Provincial Legal Officer, Atty. Niel Pacana, said.

The documents are being kept at the provincial capitol.

The department concerned will be summoned to explain why the documents were discarded.

“Kining mga document nga akong nakita mga accountable forms man, either operational of even sa finance, kay naa may mga official receipts,” Lim said.

“Walay deriktiba o sugo gikan sa miaging administrasyon. Kini nga desisyon gikan sa nagdumala sa Human Resource Department as part of the office discretion,” Pacana said.
