Several provinces in Luzon suspended classes on Friday, July 4, 2025, due to heavy rains triggered by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which was intensified by Tropical Depression #BisingPH.

According to PAGASA, the tropical depression, which developed from a low-pressure area west of Calayan, Cagayan, continues to enhance the monsoon despite its expected exit from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later in the day.

The agency warned of more rain, particularly in western Luzon, with forecast rainfall in parts of Pangasinan reaching up to 200 mm.

“Maulan ang ating aasahan, lalong lalo na sa mga parte ng west ng Pangasinan. Asahan natin na ‘yung forecast rainfall natin diyan ay nasa 100–200 mm,” Engr. Jose Estrada Jr., Chief Meteorological Officer of PAGASA Dagupan Station, said.

In Pangasinan, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that 28 local government units suspended classes. Of these, 18 suspended at all levels, eight from kindergarten to senior high school, and two enforced partial suspensions.

“Ang local chief executive, thru the recommendation of local DRRMO, ay puwedeng i-suspend o i-cancel ng LCE ang klase,” Assistant Provincial DRRM Officer Avenix Arenas said.

Elsewhere in Luzon, the following areas also canceled classes as a precaution:
