Five men, including two minors, were arrested by personnel of the Talisay City Police Station in Cebu for mauling a 16-year-old boy.

The incident was caught on closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City dawn on July 6, 2025.

A video that circulated online showed that a person in gray jogging pants, shirtless, was punched alternately by five persons.

The suspects were identified to be ages 25 years old, two who are 23 years old, one 18-year old, and 17-year old.

Based on investigation done by the Talisay City Police, the victim was from a drinking joint in Barangay Poblacion. The incident happened past 1 a.m.

According to Police Lt. Col. Maila Maramag, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, the victim had exchanged punches with another person earlier. The person was a friend of the five suspects.

After Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas saw the video on social media, he directed the police to have the incident resolved.

In a follow-up operation, the five suspects were identified and arrested around noontime on July 6, 2025.

GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak tried to get a comment from the suspects, but they refused an interview.

Further, it was established that the suspects and the victim had a drinking spree, separately, in the same establishment.

Barangay Poblacion Chairman Edward Alesna will push a recommendation to prohibit stringently the presence of juveniles in drinking joints, or bars.

Gullas has directed the Business Permit Licensing Office to conduct its own investigation.

Maramag vowed that aside from their random inspection on establishments at nighttime,  police personnel will be assigned in the vicinity of the joints to help implement the curfew ordinance.

The victim was already dispensed from the hospital, as of this writing, and is keen on filing a case against the suspects for physical injury.
