A 28-year-old truck driver died after his trailer truck fell into a ravine in Barangay Baruyem, Bangui, Ilocos Norte.
According to the police, the truck loaded with cement lost its brakes, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a tree. The strong impact separated the tractor head, which then fell into the ravine and crushed the driver underneath.
The trailer overturned on the roadside, spilling sacks of cement onto the highway.
A 19-year-old helper survived the crash with only minor injuries.
Rescuers took eight hours to retrieve the driver’s body, which was pinned under the wreckage.
