Authorities have taken two students into custody for allegedly bullying another student in a school in Isabela City, Basilan.
The incident happened near the restroom of the school during recess on June 25, 2025. It was caught on video and has since gone viral on social media.
In the video, the 15-year-old victim is punched and kicked repeatedly by two other students, 14 and 15 years old. The victim can be heard crying in pain during the beating.
Three other students reportedly witnessed the incident, with one of them leaving the scene in shock.
The video also showed the suspects pointing at the victim before slapping his face, and punching and kicking him again.
According to the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9), the two students allegedly hurt the victim when the latter refused to heed their demands, including for the victim to smoke.
“Sa initial investigation, sa interview doon sa bata, parang pinipilit manigarilyo or something basta may pinapagawa sa kanya na ayaw niyang gawin,” PRO-9 Spokesperson, Major Shellamie Chang, said.
The victim was rushed to the hospital after complaining of pain in the head and vomiting. He was transferred later to a hospital in Zamboanga City for further treatment and has since returned home in the first week of July.
The suspects will face physical bullying charges. However, since they are minors, they were placed under the custody of the Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for counseling and intervention.
Authorities also summoned all parties involved for a case conference.
