Authorities discovered misdeclared agricultural goods worth an estimated P100 million inside container vans at the Port of Subic, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Bureau of Customs (BOC) confirmed on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
Officials opened 10 out of 31 flagged containers that arrived at the port in June. While the shipment was declared to contain "chicken lollipop" and "karaage," the actual contents were sacks of rice, onions, carrots, and mackerel.
The BOC said most of the containers had no identified consignees or DA representatives present during inspection. All goods are now under BOC custody.
Authorities will inspect the products to see if they are still safe for consumption. If deemed safe, they may be donated to communities in need.
