A 36-year-old farmer died after he was bitten by a cobra while working at a rice field in Barangay Sta. Ana, Solsona, Ilocos Norte.
According to the farmer’s neighbor who witnessed the incident, the victim, Ian Maravilla, was pulling rice seedlings when the snake bit his finger.
Minutes later, Maravilla began to feel dizzy and weak.
He was rushed to the local Rural Health Unit and transferred later to a bigger hospital, but doctors declared him dead soon after.
The snake, a cobra measuring over two meters long, was reportedly captured and killed following the incident.
