A 1,000-pound vintage bomb was unearthed in Barangay Tinago, Cebu City, while a suspected vintage bomb was dug up in Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Agdao District, Davao City.
The 1,000-pound vintage bomb was unearthed while an excavation was going on in the compound of the Commission on Audit in M.J. Cuenco Avenue corner V. Sotto Street, Barangay Tinago, Cebu City.
The bomb was found at about 11 a.m. on July 8, 2025.
Personnel from Waterfront Police Station 3 of the Cebu City Police Office secured the area.
The vintage bomb was turned over to the Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD).
Meanwhile, a suspected vintage bomb was dug up at a construction site in Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Agdao District, Davao City.
Police said that the suspected vintage bomb was discovered by a 41-year-old backhoe operator while excavating the area for a post installation at the construction site.
The operator reported immediately the incident to the site’s security personnel, who then alerted local authorities.
Authorities quickly cordoned off the area to ensure public safety.
The suspected vintage bomb has since been turned over to the City Explosive and Canine Unit for assessment, identification, and safe disposal.
