A 39-year-old fisherman was arrested for allegedly raping his neighbor in Barangay Poblacion, Bacuag, Surigao del Norte.

According to the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office, a 27-year-old woman reported to authorities on July 10, 2025 that she was raped by the suspect in her residence.

Police said the suspect allegedly raped the victim while the latter was sleeping. The victim woke up to find the suspect already on top of her, threatening her with a knife.

Operatives responded immediately and arrested the suspect evening of the same day.

The suspect is now detained.

“Our SDN police troops remain dedicated and relentless in conducting continuous operations against this lawless individual. We always place a premium on immediate action to deliver justice to the victims and enhance public safety,” Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Director, Col. Warren Dablo, said.
