A viral video showing a Grade 8 student being slapped and pushed by her classmates in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya has prompted a full investigation by local authorities and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The incident happened under a tent near a school. In the video, the victim, wearing a red skirt, was sitting while her classmates stood around her. Without warning, one of them slapped her. Others laughed and another student hit her again. The victim remained seated and silent the whole time.

Another video showed the group in a garden area, where the confrontation continued. One student pushed the victim, causing her to fall and get pinned underneath the one who shoved her.

An owner of a store nearby stepped in to break up both incidents.

Based on initial investigation, the students had skipped class and were drinking alcohol allegedly before the fight broke out.

Five students were identified as the ones who assaulted the victim physically.

Authorities recommend their transfer to another school.

The Schools Division Superintendent said counseling and debriefing sessions have been arranged for the victim and the students involved.

Officials are also studying the possibility of filing cyberbullying charges after the video was uploaded and shared.

Police said the victim’s family is determined to file a formal complaint.

The school will also summon the person who allegedly sold alcohol to the students.

The local government has since ordered stricter enforcement of the ordinance banning alcohol sales to minors.

Attempts to get the side of the accused students were declined.
