Murder charges are up against a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president who shot dead an alleged romantic rival.
Police investigation found that the suspect, an SK federation president in Argao town, southern Cebu, spent nine bullets of his 9-mm firearm at a person, in rage and jealous fit, having vied reportedly for the attention of the same woman.
Tension ensued when the victim and the suspect saw each other in a resto-bar past 11 p.m. on July 11, 2025. It was learned that the emotional clash between the two was apparent since 2024 because of a woman.
Prior to the shooting, the two reportedly had a verbal tussle.
The suspect tried purportedly to flee the scene, but he was apprehended by a policeman who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
“Sakit nga storya ana nga engkwentro unya bahad-bahad ba nga kita ta, bahad nga sakit nga istorya tungod sa nahibaw-an sa biktima nga iyang uyab nikuan aning SK Federation [president] nahibaw-an niya kay unay circumstances ba…sila duha puros nakainom, lahi ang diskarte sa kinabuhi kay bino na ang nagmando,” said Police Captain Carlos Barca, deputy chief of Argao Police Station.
