A 49-year-old Negrense caregiver died in Israel, this was confirmed by the Embassy of the Philippines in Tel Aviv.
The death of Leah Mosquera, a resident of San Enrique town, Province of Negros Occidental who worked for years in Israel as caregiver, was anounced through an official statement from the Embassy.
Mosquera would have celebrated her 50th birthday on July 29, 2025.
“Barangay treasurer yan sya dati sa Barangay Guintuliran. Graduate siya ng Commerce. Very active yan siya noong una, hardworking at walang problema sa number of years working abroad,” San Enrique Mayor Jilson Tubillara.
Mosquera was wounded when an Iranian missile exploded in her location on June 15, 2025.
She was rushed to the Shamir Medical Center where she underwent surgery. She stayed in the Intensive Care Unit of the said medical facility for weeks.
The Embassy has assured it is focused tightly on the immediate repatriation of Mosquera's remains to the country.
Processing of various assistance to her family is also underway.
“We extend our condolences. Very unfortunate, she really fought for her life but the injury that she sustained were just too much for her. I am just trying to review how much to give,” Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.
Mosquera’s relatives have refused to give a statement, while waiting for additional information on her death.
