A man in Cagayan de Oro City landed in jail after he allegedly hit his wife during a heated argument over their unfed pet dogs.
The wife also sustained injuries when the argument reportedly escalated into a scuffle that involved a bladed weapon.
Personnel of the Police Station 4 arrested the man after the wife filed a complaint.
Based on investigation, the argument stemmed from the husband allegedly failing to feed their dogs.
Police clarified that contrary to what came out on social media, the altercation was not caused by online gambling. It is also not true that the husband hacked or stabbed his wife.
“Ang nahitabo ato during sa ilang paglalis nag-ilogay sila sa bladed weapon. Ang samurai, naa’y handle, naa’y metal sharp object nahaplos siya didto siya nasamad dili tinuod ang report sa social media nga natigbasan o stabbed,” Police Station 4 Commander, Major Peter Tajor, said.
The man is facing charges for violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Childrens Act (RA 9262).
“Siguro, emotion and physical abuse ang elemento sa maong krimen. Any report nga makita sa social media sa Facebook or anywhere atong i-verify kay mali ang information ang nahatag sa usa ka platform,” Tajor said.
