Two people were killed while another was injured after a dump truck crashed into two houses in Barangay Cuevas, Trento, Agusan del Sur.

The driver of the dump truck and his helper both died on the spot while the owner of one of the houses was injured and rushed to the hospital.

According to Trento Police Station Chief, Major Carmelo Malupay, the driver and his helper were residents of Santa Josefa, Agusan del Norte.

Investigation showed that the dump truck, which was loaded with sand, was allegedly traveling at high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle when the brakes reportedly malfunctioned.

The vehicle veered off the road and slammed into the houses owned by Merleyn Pontinar and Fredie Asio.

Fortunately, no one was inside Asio’s home at that time as the family had left early to celebrate a birthday at a beach resort.

Investigation into the accident continues.
