The local government of General Santos City has launched an investigation into a City Hall employee’s alleged rude behavior toward a student scholar.

Based on reports, the student arrived five minutes late to claim the scholarship allowance at a payout event held at the Oval Plaza.

The student alleged that one of the employees in charge of the distribution treated them rudely.

“Ato’ng giaksyonan kay ang mulo, na late siya five minutes, tapos valid ang iyang rason sa payout sa ilang allowance. Karon, na-late ang ato’ng usa ka estudyante kay basi’g naa pa gyud gina-process. And then mura daw nagsinuplada ang usa ka empleyado nga taas pa man ang position,” Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao said.

City Hall officials are waiting for the response of the employee believed to be assigned at the City Treasurer’s Office.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the complainant and the employee for a statement, as of this writing.

According to the local government, if the employee is found to have acted unprofessionally and fails to cooperate in the investigation, the matter may be elevated to the Human Resource Department for appropriate disciplinary action.

“So, ingon ko, city administrator, ipa-imbestigahan para makuha nato ang side kung unsay reason. Sama sa akong ginaigon, kung naa tay problema sa panimalay, dili nato dad-on sa trabaho. Dili na pwede… dili nato pwede i- tolerate ing-ana nga pamatasan,” Pacquiao added.

The incident could be an isolated case as other residents have shared positive experiences dealing with City Hall employees.

“Wala man sukad-sukad nakapila nako og balik diri mangayo ko sa ila og tabang, gina-entertain ko nila og tarong,” a resident, Ma. Theresa Tamini, said.
