A couple, both 68 years old, was stabbed dead by their own son-in-law in San Lorenzo town, Province of Guimaras.

The couple – alias “Lita” and alias “Jose” – was stabbed to death in Barangay Aguilar, San Lorenzo on July 14, 2025.

The suspect is their own son-in-law identified only as a certain “Rey,” 39 years old.

According to the police, the victims are against the suspect letting a girlfriend live with him in his house at the family compound.

The suspect’s wife died in April 2024. He was left to take care of their three children, ages 11 years old, eight years old, and two years old.

The suspect was enraged at the constant chastisement of the couple on the regular presence of his girlfriend in his house in the compound.

The incident happened when the suspect got drunk, had a verbal tussle with his in-laws, and attacked them eventually.

His mother-in-law sustained 12 wounds, while his father-in-law sustained four wounds.

Two other individuals sustained injuries while trying to intervene. The two are already in stable condition, as of this writing.

The suspect will face charges for two counts of murder and two counts of attempted homicide.  

“Pinagsasabihan ito at pinagagalitan ng kanyang biyenan na huwag dalhin o umalis siya diyan kasi may kinakasama na siyang ibang babae. Diyan nagsimula ang sama ng loob,” Captain Joje Gania, chief of San Lorenzo Municipal Police Station, said.
