Motorists in Davao City are advised to brace for heavier traffic as Bolton Bridge 1, southbound direction, is set to be closed temporarily from July 18 to 28, 2025 for repair of its expansion joints.

The closure will start at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 18, until midnight of July 28.

It can be recalled that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) started the repair of the bridge in April, with temporary closure being implemented from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

However, the contractor requested the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) for a full-day closure for 10 days.

“Dili siya makuha ang curing nga optimal effect so they proposed to have a bridge full closure for ten days,” CTTMO OIC-Admin Officer, Atty. Eduardo Perez IV, said.

Meanwhile, Bolton Bridge 2, which serves northbound traffic, will remain open and converted to two-way traffic for the time being.

However, trucks coming from the northbound side will not be allowed to pass through Bolton Bridge 2.

“There will be rerouting as part of our traffic mitigation measures. I-reroute ang mga truck going south. So, Agdao palang daan palikuon na nato para dili sila matapok sa Bridge 2,” Perez added.

Alternate routes will be put in place. From Leon Garcia, Agdao, trucks can take Sta. Ana Avenue, then Quirino Avenue until Mc Arthur Highway, and turn at Sandawa to reach Quimpo Boulevard.

Traffic enforcers and marshals will be deployed to manage the traffic flow and ensure public safety throughout the duration of the closure of Bolton Bridge 1.
