The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the full schedule for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), which are set to take place on December 1, 2025.
Many voters have already started making inquiries and trying to update their voter records, even before the official start of the registration period. Among them is Jennife Molina of Barangay Anolid, Mangaldan, who visited the local COMELEC office early to update her status.
“Mag-change status sana ako, kaya lang sabi hindi pa pwede,” Molina said.
She was advised to return on August 1 when the 10-day voter registration begins officially.
The following is COMELEC’s released calendar of activities:
- August 1–10 – Voter Registration
- October 1–7 – Filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC)
- October 27–December 31 – Election Period and Gun Ban
- November 20–29 – Campaign Period
- December 1 – Election Day
- December 31 – Last Day to File Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE)
COMELEC is pushing ahead with preparations unless a law postponing the elections is signed by the President.
“Kung talagang hindi mapirmahan o hindi i-veto ng ating Pangulo ang batas o bill postponing the elections, ay talagang tuloy-tuloy na tayo sa December 1,” Atty. Reddy Balarbar, Acting Regional Election Director of COMELEC Region 1, said.
AREAS OF CONCERN
During the last BSKE in 2023, two towns in Pangasinan were tagged as areas of concern due to election-related incidents. According to Balarbar, these towns may still be under the same classification.
“Sa parameter kasi ng COMELEC, kapag may insidenteng ganyan ay at least sa dalawa pang eleksyon ay nasa category ka pa ng areas of concern,” he said.
Mangaldan police are also preparing for the election-related activities.
“Nakausap ko na ang COMELEC at sinabi na nila ang calendar of activities kaya pinaghahandaan na rin natin ang mga dapat na security measures,” PLTCOL Perlito Tuayon, Chief of Mangaldan Police Station, said.
